Resurrecting the long and noble tradition of itinerant cinema, Echo Park Film Center is in town with their traveling film school and cinema like the pied pipers of contemporary experimental and documentary cinema. They are circumnavigating the United States to celebrate their 10-year anniversary by communing with cinephiles across the land and sharing the power of the moving image. The days festivities will include a FREE community filmmaking workshop in the evening, followed by a night of films and live music. We encourage people to bring or order-in food if they would like to eat dinner during the event.

Lisa Marr and Paolo Davanzo, more commonly known as The Here and Now, will play their home cooked brand of hobo rock to silent Super 8 movies. They will be joined for a portion of the night by NYC hometown hero Steve Espinola.
Filmmaking workshop opportunities include a Direct Animation project where we will be drawing, scratching and painting directly onto 16mm clear leader which we then show that evening. Also, a photobooth of change project where we do a live-animation with signs showing the positive change you want to see in the world..

Paolo Davanzo is the co-founder of the Echo Park Film Center and loves to travel, play drums on a suitcase and screen films across the world. Lisa Marr is a musician, filmmaker and the “Here” in the Here and Now.
Steve Espinola is a Prospect Heights Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter who usually accompanies himself on piano, 19-string electric tennis racket, two-string dotar, and air. Recently, he is often found recording and archiving local performers live onto 78 rpm acetates and plastic picnic plates, so that music lovers and archeologists of future post-electric generations may travel back to now on hand-cranked Victrolas. His music has been described as a “Fats-Waller-shares-a-hamburger-with-Brian-Wilson- while-Marianne-Moore-buys-insurance-from-Wallace-Stevens- and-Isabella-Rossellini-eyes-Stanley-Tucci-in-Big-Night sort of hybrid.”
He also performs / has performed / has toured and/or recorded with: The Sprinkle Genies, Steve Wynn (Dream Syndicate, Gutterball), The Moldy Peaches, The Teenage Prayers, Amy X. Neuburg, Biff Rose, The Dan Emery Mystery Band, Sport Murphy, and (Ben Hume’s) The Listeners, among many others. He used to cameo his electric tennis racket with Lisa’s band cub in their New York appearances.
