If you could use a break to focus on the work that’s most important to you, and you’d like to do that in a community of others doing the same thing, Big Shed and the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke in Durham, North Carolina invite you to join us this summer.
Registration is currently open for Digging In, a week-long retreat designed for independent creatives and media makers.
What you work on is up to you — a story you’re finishing, a proposal you’re developing, a project you’re conceptualizing, or maybe you just want the space and community to think about your creative trajectory. Work and play alongside other independent documentary makers in audio, photography, print, film, multi/mixed media, art, et al. The week is lightly structured to help you make significant progress on a project that’s important to you.
Share ideas and get feedback from other participants and the Big Shed team — this summer, Kara Oehler of Zeega will join Shea Shackelford and Jesse Dukes of Big Shed in leading the retreat. And when you’re not working, you can expect brilliant adventures, special guests, tasty food, thought-provoking presentations, late-night conversations, and hand-cranked ice cream on the porch. We hope you can come this Summer for an intensely relaxing, invigoratingly supportive time to dig deep and get some serious work done.
