I wanted to live here on Powell's Mountain for the rest of my life. But my home & property are surrounded by mountain top removal mining permits & sites. Permits are pending for a haul road (2-lane, 24 hours a day, estimated for a 20 year mining operation) to carry the heavy trucks hauling the coal. Also, a permit for a dumping site. All of this within 300 ft of my back door. Why is it that any natural waterway, in any other state,is protected with "Federal Laws", but in West Virginia, these water ways & marshlands are for the "exclusive use of coal companies" to dump very toxic waste materials.I listen to & feel dynamite blasting almost every day. Our politicians & court officials need a "mandatory" fly-over & walk-through these mining sites. You can only be responsible stewards by seeing them first hand. Thank you, Patsy Tomlin
